See ya 0-3 month clothes – 16 weeks

The big news this week is Finley has finally started to wear some 3-6 month clothes! Her gap skinny pants have turned into Mrs. Tight Pants (similar to most of her mothers pants at the moment!!)  and her 3 month onesies are starting to show too much cleavage.  Modesty is best when you are sixteen weeks.

We also had a special visit from Aunt Price who came all the way from Houston to meet Finley.  It was so much fun to have Price, we went skiing and enjoyed a few crisp cold Squatters beers on the mountain.  We also managed to get a babysitter and enjoy a night on Main Street.  The visit with Price went way too fast, I will get to see her again in May when we run the Portland half marathon.  I am hoping half marathon training will help with my Mrs. Tight Pants J

Finley is continuing to suck on her hands as if they were the most delicious and amazing discovery of her life.  We are also working a lot on tummy time, her little neck is getting stronger by the day.  Next week we will travel back to New York for her four month doctor visit and shots, I am anxious to see how much the little munchkin weighs.  We also tried rice cereal for the first time this week.  For some reason I thought feeding a baby via spoon would be much easier.  We were able to get the cereal into her mouth but she isn’t too fond of swallowing yet.  We will try again in a few days.

Weekends with Aunt Price are so much fun

Lady who loves to lunch

Lunch with Lindsey

Lunch with Paula

The first week of 2012 flew by so fast. The one thing that is constant every day with Finley is that I do not know where the time goes.  I feel like it is all that I can do to get out of the house by noon each day.  It seems as soon as we took the tree down Finley’s three month clothes became a little snug, with the new year she will also be getting a new 3-6 month wardrobe!  This week Todd took a trip to New York and to Houston and Gigi came in to keep Finley and I company.  We had a wonderful visit with her and we were both so sad to see her leave.  During Gigis’ visit we were ladies about town, having lunch and dinner with Paula and Lindsey Harrison.  Finley LOVES to go out to eat – she adores sitting at the table and being held by whomever.  Finley and I also had our first car trouble together.  On Thursday I was heading to the grocery store when the computer in our car went off and said, “Do not drive over 30 miles per hour” and soon after the notice I heard a very loud scraping noise.  Our car fell on top of the wheels – crazy right?!?!  I was able to pull over safely and call a tow truck.  A thousand dollars and a free car wash later we were back on the road!  Todd will be home on Wednesday and we have a visit from Aunt Price on Friday – Finley can’t wait to meet her!!!!

Each day is a new day when it comes to Finleys sleeping habits.  I would say she is a good sleeper and will take a morning and afternoon nap on her own.  The latest development is that we can put her in her crib around 8 or 9 at night and she goes to sleep, Hallelujah!!!!!  Since her last feeding is right before we put her down, I still have to get up between 3am and 4am to feed her, she will quickly eat 4 ounces and then go back down until morning.  Morning comes anywhere between 6am and 8am.  I would say we are over the hump of a newborn and we are now living with an infant.  She is still on the small side so I don’t expect a 10 or 12 hour night for another month or so.  I don’t mind the middle of the night feeding, I think I am just used to it and I have worked it into my own sleep pattern.  I am so very thankful that she finally goes down easy, we spent three months living with someone who did not want to go to bed until midnight, so this new development is a treat for both Todd and I.  However, Todd no longer has an excuse to stay up late catching up on Gold Rush!!!  If you haven’t heard of Gold Rush that is a good thing, but in short it is a reality tv show about total morons trying to mine for gold in Alaska.  Todd started watching it when he would stay up late with the baby, I hate to admit that I also watch it now, it is strangely addicting.  Will the Schnables find gold???

Weather update – still sunny and snow free in Park City L

Happy New Year 2012

We have had a very busy few weeks with lots of holidays, travel and family visits.  Finley spent her first Christmas in Park City with lots of gifts under the tree.  On Christmas Eve we shared the holiday and dinner with the Brewer Family.  It was wonderful to be surrounded by old family friends on my birthday; the Milligans and the Brewers have been sharing holiday memories for over forty years.  It is really fun to see the new generation of friends – J.B., Elise, and Finley begin their very own friendships and holiday traditions.

Finley took her first road trip to St. George to visit Gigi and Papa.  The car trip was just a little over 4 hours, which included a stop for fast food (Arbys is our guilty pleasure in Utah)!  When we arrived in beautiful St. George Gigi let us know that she would like to watch Finley at night and we could sleep.  Wow – What an amazing gesture and three very restful nights for Mom and Dad.  When we were in St. George Gigi cooked wonderful meals for us and Finley got to watch her Papa fly model airplanes.  On our last night Finley was treated to dinner at Entrada Country Club where she was the center of attention and loved every minute of it.  We came home on New Years Eve and went over to the Cronley’s house to celebrate New Years (East Coast time) with lots of adults and children.

Finley is still very interested in the hands she discovered a few weeks ago.  She is also becoming more vocal and loves to jabber all day long.  She is working very hard to learn how to suck her thumb, we are probably just a few weeks away from a thumb sucker!  Todd and I have taken to playing scrabble in the evenings – our quiet simple life in Park City.  We both wish we could spend more time skiing, but there isn’t any snow on the ground yet.  We are hoping for a white January.

We haven’t come very far on our resolutions for the new year.  I think Todd would like to watch more football, Finley would like to learn more about football and I would like to make sure I get out of the house on my own when they are watching football.  Maybe we will come up with something better before sundown.
